If you ask Dr. Katie Solomon where she grew up, you have to narrow things down a bit. Her father served in the military, so by the time she was 12, her family had moved five times, from Georgia to Florida to the Philippines and back.

To Dr. Katie, not having one hometown works to her advantage. She feels it's helped her connect and communicate with people from all kinds of backgrounds.

Education & Experience

Dr. Katie spent her high school years in South Georgia, then headed to the University of Georgia, where she earned a spot in the honors program and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in biology and a minor in nutrition. From there, she went to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston for dental school. There, Dr. Katie fell in love with orthodontics. She loved the idea of helping patients feel confident enough to show off their best accessory, their smile.

Dr. Katie completed a three-year residency at MUSC in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, earning a Master of Science in Dentistry and serving as chief resident in her final year. While not required, Dr. Katie also chose to pursue and achieve board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics, which shows her dedication to providing the highest level of care to her patients.

Outside of the Office

Outside the office, Dr. Katie loves spending time with friends and family, curling up with a good book, and spoiling her two dogs, Dooley and Finley. She and her husband, Jesse, enjoy exploring the Lowcountry and all it has to offer with their dogs in tow. The two met at the University of Georgia, and Jesse now runs his own landscape architecture firm in the area. So of course, they both bleed red and black for the Georgia Bulldogs!

After a childhood on the move, Dr. Katie is thrilled to have finally put down roots here, and even more thrilled to spend her days creating winning smiles for this community she calls home.
